I am not an artist that makes work about what I know...I am an artist that makes work about what I don’t know.

I have an interdisciplinary practice that uses network theory and diagramming to create a rhizomatic web of interconnecting ideas.

My current work is an audiovisual experiment into how time distorts sound and how sound distorts time. I use time distorted loops and screens that combine the chaos and creative joy of Noise Music with the imperfect and textural sounds of broken or discarded acoustic instruments. I perform live and create installations that use an orchestra of broken televisions as both screens and amplifiers to produce lo-fi sound and flickering visual loops.

My work challenges the notion of virtuosity by using instruments that are broken, or that I can’t ‘play’. I am able to take the visceral and dissonant sound of unplayable instruments and by using the node based programming language of TouchDesigner alter the speed allowing me to create music from the tuneless.

All the screens and instruments I use are considered obsolete. Initially using them as a sustainable working practice, not buying new but repairing and reusing and frustrated with the consumerism of late-capitalism and the art worlds complicity within it. More recently this equipments unpredictability, a results of its previous existence, its history, has formed a deep- routed part of my investigation into time through sound.

My research also explores sounds position within the contemporary arts, how it is under valued and often misunderstood in an art context.
